Guy Martin Spitfire DVD
Regular price £10.00
Guy Martin joins the two-year restoration of a Spitfire that was buried in
a French beach for decades, and tells the Boy's Own-style story of its pilot,
Squadron Leader Geoffrey Stephenson.
Guy Martin has joined the ultimate engineering project - to restore one of the world's most iconic fighter planes.
'
He will help with every stage of a two year re-build of a wrecked Mark I Spitfire, which was dug out of a French beach just a few years ago, and learn the original hand-crafted skills needed to make vital new parts.
'
He'll fit the parts, attach the wings, test the engine, paint the fuselage and fix some of the million-plus rivets which have to be kept at sub-zero temperatures.
'
He'll also uncover the extraordinary story of the ace pilot who flew this very plane and crash-landed it in France in may 1940, survived Colditz and became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II's personal pilot.
